Newman is home to approximately 10,000 people and is a thriving small community. Thirty miles southwest of Modesto in Stanislaus County, Newman is situated in a great central location to many of the state's attractions. A two hour drive in any given direction can take you anywhere from the capitol to the ocean or the mountains.
With a beautiful view of the foothills leading to the coastal ranges, the City of Newman is located in an agriculturally rich and naturally beautiful geographical area. Located directly on California's Highway 33 and a mere five miles from Interstate 5; local attractions include the West Side Theatre in the heart of downtown, George Hatfield State Park three miles southeast of town and the San Luis Reservoir approximately twenty minutes to the south.
Take a drive to the west side and see what you've been missing! The valley's best kept secret is looking forward to your visit; on behalf of the City of Newman, welcome to our community!
Local recreational resources include bird watching, trap shooting, hunting, fishing and canoeing on the San Joaquin and Merced Rivers. Boating, fishing, and picnic grounds are available at both San Luis Reservoir and Hatfield State Park.

The City is also home to a community theatre and many social and service clubs; including a historical society and museum. THEATER

Rotarians abide by Rotary's Four Way Test of the things we think, say and do:

FIRST: Is it the TRUTH?

SECOND: Is it FAIR to all concerned?

THIRD: Will it build GOOD WILL and

FOURTH: Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

You may not know that 15,000 children die every day from preventable diseases. It costs between $1 and $2 per child to save their lives. A donation of $100 to the Rotary Foundation’s Annual Programs Fund (Every Rotarian, Every Year) can save the lives of 50 to 100 children. A donation of $1,000 can save the lives of 500 to 1,000 children.

There are compassionate Rotarians, who are willing to pay $5,000 to save the life of one child. With a contribution of $5,000 to the Rotary Foundation Annual Giving Program, you can save the lives of 2,500 to 5,000 children and at the same time receive five Paul Harris Fellowships and get half ways towards becoming a Major Donor.

Many children can be saved by low cost solutions like:

· Vaccines
· Antibiotics
· Nutritional supplements
· Insecticide-treated bed nets
· Improved family hygiene
· Low Cost Water Purification
· Teaching literacy skills to children
· Teaching mothers about hygiene to improve the health of their children.
· Digging water wells for villages
· Providing micro loans for women to start businesses to feed their children.

The Rotary Foundation also improves world understanding with Ambassadorial Scholarships and Cultural Exchange.

In addition, we make a big difference in Peace and Conflict Resolution through Rotary Peace Centers that educate Rotary Peace Fellows to become future leaders around the world
